Derby University's employees are worried about the monitoring of their communication and about what could get them fired, after six lecturers were suspended for looking at pornography.

How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?University of Derby provides lots of extra curricular lectures to enable students to attend regarding life beyond university. They organise lots of external providers to come in and advise students on their post grad opportunities. Lecturers have an open door policy to enable students to discuss their career options. Lecturers then advise students where they can access further information.

How good are your university’s facilities? They are great. I can bring my children in to uni on days where they might be off school and I need to work. They have a childrens room in the library specific for parents with children which entertains the little ones while you get your head down. The uni has a shop onsite, hair dressers, book shop, travel agents, work experience unit, support service, student coffee shop as well as starbucks and of course which includes papa johns. What more can you want!
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc). The support has been second to none since I have been studying. I have access to a personal mentor who has been a rock throughout, an escape from life and someone to keep me focussed on my studies. The course leader and programme manager has been invaluable in providing options and support when I needed it.The tutors are incredibly supportive and in times of doubt or trouble they are fantastic. How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)? The University of Derby has a career service that will help you not only find jobs but also can help with your CV.
They also help you to find volunteering roles and allow you to go on experiences such as as New York to add more things to your CV. They also allow you to take part in the work experience abroad program to give you work experience outside of the UK. If you are struggling with writing job applications they can help with that and also finding the right career path for you.
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught? The most best think I admire about the way our course it taught is it is taught at set times each week and also the lecturers leave 30 mins spare at the end of the lesson for any questions students may have to be able to discuss these 1 to 1. The one thing I do not like about the course is it is longer than most other degrees therefore you are there slightly longer than the rest of the Uni so it can feel slightly isolating at times. What do you think of your Students' Union? If you don't get involved, why not?I think the students union are extremely helpful as you can talk to them about anything and they will ensure it is kept confidential fro m the university. If you have any queries were they cant help you they will transfer you to the people who can help you further.
To ensure the information they have provided is not forgotten they always email you what they have discussed in a password protected file. They can help with a range of tasks such as academic or personal health issues. How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc). The support from the tutors is brilliant they always leave feedback either online or on the assignment record form that you keep which is signed.
